Alexis Avila of Prepped and Polished shares some of the things top and ivy league bound students share in common:
Been big readers since early age
The first thing is a lot of top students and Ivy League bound students are big readers. They’ve been reading since a young age.
Their parents instilled reading at a young age, encouraging the love of reading. Therefore, because they’ve been reading for so long, they’re able to make a lot of good inferences. When they take standardized tests, they dominate the reading and writing sections of the SAT. And also, because they have been able to read, they can become better writers and communicators.
Great work ethic
Another thing that I find is that a lot of the top students and Ivy League students share in common that they have a very, very strong work ethic; they’re just hard workers. Even if subjects that they learn come easily to them, they still work pretty hard. They just kind of put 110% effort into the homework. They have enthusiastic, positive attitudes towards their schoolwork. In school, they work hard, and because they’re organized and work hard, they tend to get top grades. Their teachers tend to like them because they have positive attitudes in class.
