Julie Leven is a professional violinist who has performed throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. She’s also the executive and artistic director of Shelter Music Boston, which is an organization that presents classical chamber music concerts of the highest artistic standards in homeless shelters and other sheltering environments.

Julie grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and went to school in Oberlin and in Boston. She has been working as a professional musician since she finished Oberlin. She had a couple of orchestra jobs in other countries, including Israel and Denmark. Working as a musician, she plays in the Boston Pops in the Handel and Haydn Society. She has been living in Boston since the late 80s.

Julie has degrees from the Boston University School of Management Institute for Nonprofit Management and Leadership as well as from Oberlin College and Conservatory with degrees in English and Violin Performance. Shelter Music Boston presents classical chamber music concerts of the highest artistic standards in homeless shelters and other sheltering environments.
